How many colleges can shout out about having Ed Sheeran as an ex-student and patron? Here at Access we like to shout out loud and proud – after all it is Ed Sheeran.
Now one of the world’s best-selling artists, Ed studied the Artist Development course back in 2007. Since then, he has sold a record number of singles, as well as collaborating with some of the music industry’s biggest names.
‘It was a wicked course. It gave me the first push and I loved the freedom. They understood that half of the learning you need for the industry was outside the classroom with gigs and studio time’.
While on the course, Access arranged for Ed and other students to showcase to Island Records in a talent-finding initiative.
After taking a year away from music Ed Sheeran came back with a bang in 2017. The entire song list of his new album, Divide, took the first 16 spots in Spotify’s UK Top 50 list. as well as taking up nine spots in the Official UK Top 10! He is also confirmed as the Sunday headliner for Glastonbury 2017!
We like to think we had a little something to do with it!
